  • We are writing another program for monitoring superconducting MRI magnets.  This is the 3rd company for which we have written such a program. (12/7/2016)

  • A thought: how many companies will sell you more than you need or even something that you don’t need – just to boost their sales figures?  Our policy is to never succumb to that temptation.
  • We are about to do some more work for a university science department.  Other likely projects later this year are in motorsport, power generation and the dairy industry.
  • We have just completed a data reporting program for one of our longstanding customers.  This is an add-on to a program that they supply with their systems.
  • The program referred to in the point below was not written by us and it illustrates a few things about LabVIEW programming. It is nothing more than a data logging program, yet it has been written in a very obscure way. For example, the subroutine which makes calls to the data acquisition device is SIX levels down in the hierarchy of routines (the “VI hierarchy”). This means there is a lot of code achieving very little.  Our customer has inherited this program from the company that originally wrote it, a well-known high-tech company which sadly is not the force it used to be 10 or 20 years ago. Perhaps we know one reason why. Poorly written code merely stores up problems for the future. See also LabVIEW Programming and Software Decay.
  • We are currently updating a program to make it work with a new data acquisition device.  This has meant changing from the very old NI-DAQ driver to the current DAQmx driver.  See our Upgrading of Software page for other reasons why software needs updating from time to time.
  • We have recently written a program for measuring the sound from firearms. A specialised microphone and amplifier are connected to a PXI system from National Instruments. Frequency analysis of the sound is also performed.
  • Several of our longstanding customers and some new customers are needing upgrades to existing programs to make them compatible with Windows 7 or with new data acquisition hardware. We can take programs from as far back as the 1990s and convert them to the latest version of LabVIEW.
  • We are developing software for BRANZ Ltd for the control of 2 furnaces which are used for testing building materials using specific temperature profiles. We are using a CompactRIO system for this.
  • LabVIEW 2012 has been released.
  • Our LabVIEW programmers have written a program (in just one day) for the monitoring of temperature in an aluminium foundry.
  • We have recently been working with a company in Slovakia which makes water meters. The user interface of the software is in the Slovak language.
  • We have completed a program for the analysis of rocks with a mass spectrometer at the University of Waikato.
  • We are continuing to assist a company here in New Zealand who make grading systems for the timber industry.
  • We have written a program for Gallagher Group for the testing of electric fence energisers using a benchtop oscilloscope.
  • A number of our programs now operate under Windows 7. When migrating from Windows XP or Vista, some changes to the interface are often needed because Microsoft, in their wisdom, have changed font sizing characteristics!
  • We have started working for our second-ever American customer. Wherever you are, we can help by providing you with a LabVIEW consultant!
  • We have recently added automatic sample handling to our vacuum process software for Applied Microengineering Ltd. The LabVIEW program communicates with (and controls) a Brooks Automation robot which loads samples into the vacuum chamber and unloads them at the end of the process.
  • We are completing a project for structural health monitoring (SHM) in the aviation industry. This project uses 4 CompactRIO systems from National Instruments.
  • In March 2010 we were awarded a large contract to write a program that would be able to log data from at least 128 pharmaceutical fermenters. See Completed Projects for more information.
